Safety on the bridge over Hellfire

The Prophet (ﷺ) said about the siraat:

..Then the bridge will be laid across Hell." We, the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! What is the bridge?' He said, "It is a slippery (bridge) on which there are clamps and (Hooks like) a thorny seed that is wide at one side and narrow at the other and has thorns with bent ends. Such a thorny seed is found in Najd and is called As-Sa'dan. Some of the believers will cross the bridge as quickly as the wink of an eye, some others as quick as lightning, a strong wind, fast horses or she-camels. So some will be safe without any harm; some will be safe after receiving some scratches, and some will fall down into Hell (Fire). The last person will cross by being dragged (over the bridge)."
- [Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim]

Commenting on the above hadith, An-Nawawi (RH) said:

The words “So some will be safe without any harm…” mean that they will fall into three categories: one category will be safe without experiencing any harm at all; another category will be scratched, then released and will be saved; and a third category will be snatched and thrown and will fall into Hell. - [Sharh an-Nawawi ‘ala Muslim]

. The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“...There will be hooks on the sides like the thorns of al-Sa’dan, except their enormity is only known to Allah. People will be seized by them according to their deeds. Among them are those who are ruined by their deeds..."
- [Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim]

Allah (ﷻ) Tells us of who will find safety upon that passing:

And there is none of you except he will come to it. This is upon your Lord an inevitability decreed. Then We will  save those who feared Allah and leave the wrongdoers within it, on their knees.
- [Maryam 19:71-72]

In the Tafsir of the above ayah, Ibn-Katheer (RH) comments:

When all of the creatures passed over the Hellfire, and those disbelievers and the disobedient people who are destined to fall into it because of their disobedience, Allah will save the believers and the righteous people from it because of their deeds. Therefore, their passing over the bridge and their speed will be based upon their deeds that they did in this life.

Allah (ﷻ) says that He will Save those that have Taqwa. To be safely delivered upon that passing, we must develop Taqwa within our hearts which will in-turn manifest as good deeds completed in the best of manners.

Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (RH) said:

The siraat is a bridge that will be set up over Hell; it is narrower than a hair and sharper than a sword. People will pass over it according to their deeds. Whoever used to hasten to do good deeds in this world will pass quickly over the siraat; whoever was slow to do good deeds and whoever used to mix righteous deeds with bad deeds, and his bad deeds were not forgiven by Allah, may slip into the Fire; may Allah protect us. - [Sharh Riyaadh as-Saaliheen]
