بسم الله والحمد الله والصلاة واسلام على رسول الله By Ruh Chapter 10 of "The Book of Assistance" by Imam al-Haddad (rh): On Following the Book and Sunnah. You must hold fast to the Book and the sunna. Take refuge in them, for they are the upright religion of Allah, and His straight path. Those who adhere to them find safety, profit, guidance and protection, while those who deviate from them go astray, grieve, lose, and are broken. Let them govern you and control what you do, and consult them in your every affair, in obedience to the counsel of Allah and that of His Messenger; O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you! If you have a dispute concerning any matter, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. بسم الله والحمد الله والصلاة واسلام على رسول الله - By Ruh The path to purifying the heart cannot be rushed, as it requires sincerity and conscious action and that path is without a doubt in the remembrance of Allah ﷻ in the heart and the manifestation of said remembrance upon the limbs. The Prophet  ﷺ  said: "The difference between the one who remembers his Lord and the one who does not is like the difference between the living and the dead" - [Sahih al-Bukhari] Shaykh Ibn Taimiyya ( rh ) said: "Remembrance of Allah is to the heart what water is to fish. What happens to a fish when it is taken out of water?" - [Purification of the Soul] What greater remembrance is there than the recitation of the Quran. بسم الله والحمد الله والصلاة واسلام على رسول الله - By Ruh As we live our daily lives, we find that we get distracted from the remembrance of Allah  ﷻ even though we deeply wish to be in constant remembrance of Him  ﷻ . This was also something the companion's of the Prophet  ﷺ struggled with this, may Allah  be pleased with them . I said, "When we are in the company of Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he reminds us of Hellfire and Jannah, we feel as if we are seeing them with our very eyes, and when we are away from Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), we attend to our wives, our children, our business, most of these things (pertaining to life hereafter) slip out of our minds." بسم الله والحمد الله  والصلاة واسلام على رسول الله - By Ruh There are times we may meet people that we admire and feel compelled to praise them, but we do not always recognise that we may in fact be harming the one we admire as well as ourselves. 'Ata' ibn Abi Rabah (ra) reported: A man was praising another man in the presence of Ibn 'Umar (ra). Ibn 'Umar (ra) began to throw dust towards his mouth. He said, "The Messenger of Allah  (ﷺ) , said, 'When you see those who praise people, throw dust in their faces.'" - [al-Adab al-Mufrad] Hammam bin Al- Harith (ra) reported: A person began to praise 'Uthman (ta), and Al-Miqdad (May Allah be pleased with him) sat upon his knees and began to throw pebbles upon the flatterer's face. 'Uthman (May Allah be pleased with him) said: "What is the matter with you?" بسم الله والحمد الله والصلاة واسلام على رسول الله - By Ruh Whenever you feel sad, try to focus on the reason you are here, it is a great anchor for when you may feel lost. Allah (ﷻ) Says: “I did not create jinn and humans except to worship Me.” - [Surah adh-Dhariyat Qur’an; 51:56] ˹He is the One˺ Who created death and life in order to test which of you is best in deeds. And He is the Almighty, All-Forgiving. - [Surah al-Mulk 67:2] Focus on pleasing Allah  (ﷻ)  and He will make you content. Allah  (ﷻ) Says : “Whoever works righteousness — whether male or female — while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter).” - [al-Nahl 16:97] This life will come with hardships. بسم الله والحمد الله والصلاة واسلام على رسول الله - By Ruh Allah  (ﷻ)  Says: Do people think once they say, “We believe,” that they will be left without being put to the test? We certainly tested those before them. And ˹in this way˺ Allah will clearly distinguish between those who are truthful and those who are liars. - [Surah al-'Ankabut 29:2-3] Know that your life will be full of tests and they will take many forms and levels of difficulty, but also know that you will not be tested by anything you cannot bare: Allah does not require of any soul more than what it can afford. - [Surah al-Baqarah 2:286] Understanding the wisdom behind tests better equips us to struggle through them with patience. We will look at some examples to find comfort in the Guidance of Allah  (ﷻ). بسم اللّٰه والحمد اللّٰه والصلاة واسلام على رسول اللّٰه - By Ruh The Prophet (ﷺ) said about the siraat: ..Then the bridge will be laid across Hell." We, the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! What is the bridge?' He said, "It is a slippery (bridge) on which there are clamps and (Hooks like) a thorny seed that is wide at one side and narrow at the other and has thorns with bent ends. Such a thorny seed is found in Najd and is called As-Sa'dan. Some of the believers will cross the bridge as quickly as the wink of an eye, some others as quick as lightning, a strong wind, fast horses or she-camels. So some will be safe without any harm; some will be safe after receiving some scratches, and some will fall down into Hell (Fire).
